About Simply Learning Together

Hi! I'm Jaimie

I’m a homeschooling mom to four children, but I actually never planned to homeschool. I felt the call to do so as my oldest was going into kindergarten. The first year did present challenges, but I was ultimately hooked by the lifestyle and the ability to learn alongside my children in everything that we did.

I love spending time with my family. We prefer mountains over beaches and have enjoyed exploring new places in the last couple of years. In my free time I’m almost always reading books, but they’re usually books for kids! I truly love researching picture books and novels that I can eventually read to my children, and the level of excitement I can get from this is actually quite nerdy.

Before homeschooling, I was a fifth-grade teacher at a private school. I loved being in the classroom and found joy in adjusting lessons and differentiating instruction to help my students learn best.

Now, I find myself adjusting lessons in our homeschool, which is what led me to begin creating resources and curriculum. Along our homeschooling journey, there have been times when I needed a particular resource and simply couldn’t find what I was looking for. So, I began creating resources to use with my own family, and it has been such a joy to now share those resources with you.

Whatever subject we are studying, living books have become a foundational part of learning in our home. Through this approach, I have developed a particular passion for simplifying language arts—helping families toward meaningful learning through real books (like the ones in our units), narration, and connection.

What I’ve learned over the years is that great literature can provide incredible educational opportunities, but it can also create such a simple rhythm that I yearn for in our homeschool days.

As I continue to discover the power of stories in education, I enjoy creating curriculum to help other families experience the same rich, literature-based learning.

I hope this blog can inspire you as you plan and prepare your own lessons and routines, and I pray my resources can be a blessing to you and your family as you are simply learning together in your homeschool.
